Think you've found asbestos?
If your home or premises was built before the year 2000, asbestos-containing materials could be present. Don't drill, sand, break or disturb the material. Get answers below, or send us a photo for a free identification.
Is asbestos dangerous if left alone?
Asbestos in good condition and left undisturbed is generally low risk. It becomes dangerous when damaged or disturbed, releasing fibres into the air. A management survey will tell you whether removal or safe management in place is the right answer.
How much does asbestos removal cost?
It depends on the material, its condition and access. That's why we give a fixed written quote within 24 hours: the price covers removal, licensed disposal, consignment notes and certification, and it doesn't move.
Do I need a licensed contractor?
Higher-risk materials like insulation board, pipe lagging and sprayed coatings legally require an HSE-licensed contractor. Lower-risk materials such as cement sheets can be handled as non-licensed work, but still need trained operatives and compliant disposal. We do both.
What happens to the waste?
All asbestos waste is double-bagged or wrapped, transported by our licensed waste carriers and disposed of at a licensed facility, with full consignment notes so you have a complete audit trail.
How quickly can you start?
Surveys are usually within days, same-day around Greater Manchester. Emergency make-safe work is available round the clock, and most domestic removals are completed within a week of the quote being accepted.
What is an asbestos survey and which type do I need?
An asbestos management survey checks a building in normal use and is the legal starting point for landlords and business premises. A refurbishment and demolition survey is more intrusive and is required before any building work on a pre-2000 property. Both include sampling, laboratory analysis and a full asbestos register.
How do I get asbestos testing near me?
Send us a photo first, it's often enough to say whether testing is worthwhile. If it is, we take a sample safely and have it analysed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory, with results back in days. We test Artex and textured coatings, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, cement sheets, insulation board and more, across the North West and nationwide.
How much does asbestos garage roof removal cost?
A single asbestos cement garage roof is one of the most common jobs we do. Costs depend on size, access and whether you want a replacement roof fitted, published guide prices are industry averages, and we typically beat them. One fixed quote can cover removal, licensed disposal with consignment notes, and a brand-new insulated roof, so you only deal with one contractor.
Is Artex asbestos? Can I remove it myself?
Textured coatings like Artex applied before the mid-1980s often contain chrysotile asbestos. Sanding or scraping it releases fibres, so don't DIY it. We test first, then either remove the coating safely or encapsulate and re-skim, leaving the ceiling decorator-ready.
I'm selling or buying a house, does asbestos matter?
Surveyors regularly flag suspected asbestos in pre-2000 homes, and unresolved findings can hold up a sale or mortgage. A quick test and, where needed, certificated removal gives buyers, sellers and lenders the paperwork to move forward with confidence.
What are a landlord's legal duties on asbestos?
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, anyone responsible for non-domestic premises (and common areas of rented housing) has a legal duty to manage asbestos: identify it, assess it, keep a register and manage the risk. We handle the whole cycle, from survey and register to removal and re-inspection.
What is a four-stage clearance certificate?
After licensed removal, an independent UKAS-accredited analyst inspects the enclosure, runs air testing and issues a certificate of reoccupation. It's your proof the area is safe, and we don't consider a job finished without it.
